The Global Security Sciences Division at Argonne National Laboratory provides technical education and training on nonproliferation, risk, infrastructure, energy, and communication topics.

Our subject matter experts deliver web-based and instructor-led training programs to national and international audiences. The GetSET training curriculum is offered onsite at Argonne and on location. Our specialized suite of training facilities at Argonne enables participants to gain hands-on experience through laboratory exercises, multi-dimensional simulations, table-top instruction, and scenario-based learning activities. Our education and training programs are adaptable to fit your specific needs.

Our Approach

We use the five-phase Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) Model as an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) framework to create in-depth, effective training courses that create lasting impact within the global security community.

For each course, our team analyzes the need and designs objectives and desired outcomes for optimal learning. We develop meaningful content that achieves action-orientated skills. Our technical experts deliver the training, and each course undergoes extensive evaluation to ensure the instructional material is relevant, effective, and innovative to provide an impactful learning experience.

Training Facilities

Radiation Detection Laboratory

The Radiation Detection Laboratory offers an environment where personnel can be trained by experts on how to use and maintain sophisticated radiation detectors. The videoconferencing room offers training space for 15 participants, internet-wired workstations and two high bays for source and detector testing. The facility is also equipped to accommodate outdoor field-testing and full-size vehicles.

Vulnerability Laboratory

The Vulnerability Laboratory is equipped with the tools necessary to reverse-engineer and exploit physical security measures. This facility enables a hands-on environment for participants to learn how to detect, identify and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities through physical exploration.

Visualization Laboratory

The Visualization Laboratory provides an enhanced visual experience for training on a variety of topics. The room is equipped with interactive, visualization tools, such as data projection and 3D, virtual reality stations that allow participants to explore data in a multi-dimensional environment.

Analytic Fusion Cell

The Analytic Fusion Cell enables analyst to harness the power of near real-time data. The cell provides learners access to GIS touchscreens, mounted monitors with weather and news feeds, and an easily configurable workspace for fast-pace, collaborative analysis.
