Dan Fraser and his team provide expertise in a variety of energy and environmental initiatives both nationally and internationally. This includes policy and economic development support, leadership and technical assurance, generation and transmission planning, national energy policy analysis and strategy development, energy market analysis, energy project finance, grid modernization, energy decommissioning, and developing regional cooperation. This expertise is supported by advanced understanding on a broad range of traditional and innovative energy options including oil & gas, fossil-fired, nuclear, hydro, and renewable power generation as well as energy storage and efficiency.

Dr. Fraser is a pioneer in applying Risk Informed Decision Making approaches to energy programs. His work is has a significant impact on the offshore oil & gas industry, and is also being applied to economic development, energy master planning, and energy technology readiness assessment.

Joe Braun has been involved with Systems Engineering and engineering management for more than 40 years, including Systems Engineering Projects in the offshore oil and gas industry and the nuclear industry, as well as operations management. Previously, he conducted a six-year DOE program to transfer nuclear plant safety technology to Russia, by means of joint safety research programs. While there, he helped to develop an International Nuclear Safety Center in Moscow.

Dr. Braun develops and conducts Argonne training courses and leadership workshops on nuclear safety to support the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He organizes and conducts programs related to nuclear infrastructure development, safety analysis and licensing, nuclear regulation, risk evaluation and Management Systems. He recently led an Argonne effort to support the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the preparation of Technical Specifications for nuclear plants that are currently seeking licenses. He now supports the SAGES team by participating in projects involved with technical support to the USDOI’S Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, energy technology readiness assessment, and economic development.
